Produced in collaboration with Pantofola d'Oro, these classic football boots are crafted by hand in Campoli, Italy, using the highest grade of lightweight Australian kangaroo leather available. Our timeless design is inspired by one of the earliest modern football footwear models produced in the 1950s by Emidio Lazzarini. It was a shoe so beloved by its early adopters that Juventus legend John Charles dubbed it ‘the golden slipper’. In doing so, he provided the inspiration for the name of the brand and encapsulated the combination of craft, athletic insight and quality that truly set this football boot apart.
Handcrafted in Italy
Our football boots are made in collaboration with esteemed Italian brand Pantofola d'Oro, founded in 1886 by the Lazzarini family. Crafted by master artisans in Campoli in the Campania region of southern Italy, we have developed this classic sporting shoe drawing on the iconic original shape and structure that Pantofola d'Oro is renowned for. First designed in the 1950s under the stewardship of Emidio Lazzarini for the town's local football team, the brand soon became well-known for producing shoes uniquely suited to the game. After all, Emidio was a sportsman himself and was well placed to contribute both his athletic and footwear expertise to the expansion of the brand. Pantofola d'Oro remains synonymous with quality and craft in sportswear to this day, continuing to push the boundaries of innovative sportswear design.
##Kangaroo leather has long been the top choice when it comes to making the best football boots, and we source only the softest, most supple Australian kangaroo leather to make ours.
Kangaroo hide consists of fine collagen fibres that are concentrated, highly uniform and run parallel to the surface of the skin. These attributes give it a higher tensile strength than other skins, which is why motorcyclists seek it out when choosing their protective leathers. It's also uniquely airy on account of a thin grain layer and naturally low fat content, in addition to its lack of sweat glands and arrector pili muscles. As a result our boots have a distinctive lightness which enables gracefully agile footwork and unrivalled ball control.
##Cruyff. Mancini. Klinsmann. Puskás. Garrincha. Don’t take it from us, take it from the legends who played in the best before super sponsorships changed the game- for the worst.
Back in the day, the legends cared about just one thing when it came to picking their boots- the quality. A well-known story on the Pantofola d’Oro workshop floor is of the day Maradona fell in love with their boot, requesting they stitched a Puma logo on to a pair of Pantofola boots to protect his sponsorship deal. And who could refuse El Pibe de Oro? It’s been said, and it’s not very surprising to us, that he played at his very best in his special pair of Pumas. The pair that had never come out of, or even seen, the Puma factory.
