Every pair of Archibald eyeglasses comes standard with 1.67 UltraThin Hi-Index MR lenses (unless otherwise specified), individually glazed as per your prescription. Sunglasses are fitted with Japanese polarised or non-polarised lenses according to the tint (lens colour) of your choice. Your customised glasses come equipped with a microfiber cloth and hard protective case. The price also includes all shipping, taxes and duties direct from Japan. For higher prescription lenses (as a general rule, we say CYL values above +2.00 and below -2.00, and/or SPH values greater than +/-6.00), an extra charge of £35.00 will be applied to your product. Please be aware that these orders take 3-4 business days longer to fulfill, due to an additional testing procedure our lens lab undertakes for higher prescription orders.

At the moment, Archibald frames are sold exclusively online at archibaldlondon.com. While creating finely crafted glasses is our passion, our business model is also important to us. If we were to sell through distributors, we could not maintain the price point that we do. This way, we allow for a true connection to exist between you and the craftsmen, ensuring the most honest and complete value proposition possible.

We would love to have you visit our studios in either London or New York City to have a closer look at the collection. Interaction with our patrons is something we value. Even if you just fancy a cup of tea, your company will be most welcome. However, given the nature of our setup, we can only accommodate you if you let us know in advance that you wish to visit. We do offer progressive lenses online. If you would like single-vision lenses instead, during the checkout procedure simply state which type of lenses (distance or near) you prefer and we can fulfill your order in the correct way. Unfortunately, we do not offer transition (photo-chromic) lenses as we are currently not happy with the technology. Transition lenses in their current form tend to have a shorter lifespan and are more susceptible to damage. As an alternative we suggest prescription sunglasses with a very slight tint. Single-vision lenses offer one correction throughout the entire lens, usually either for distance (short sighted) or near (far sighted) prescriptions. Progressive lenses offer multiple focal corrections in one lens, providing a seamless transition from distance correction on top to reading correction on bottom. This means you can see your whole field of vision without having to switch between multiple pairs of glasses. Progressive prescriptions include an add value, signifying that you are simultaneously short and far sighted. Progressive lenses aren’t for everyone and in some cases patrons decide to have one pair for near (reading) and one for distance (driving). During checkout you will be able to specify what you would like to use each of your frames for and we will automatically interpret the prescription correctly.

On each of our product page, the frame measurements are listed as three numbers. The first number signifies the width of one lens in millimeters, the second number to the width of the bridge, and the third to the length of one of the temple arms. These dimensions are known as the box dimensions of the frame and are printed on the inside arm of the frame.

In order to thoroughly clean your lenses, simply rinse them with a mild dish soap and lukewarm water, and dry them with a clean, soft cloth. For day-to-day cleaning of light marks, carefully use the cleaning cloth provided (ensuring it is clean before use). Please be careful to avoid using hot water on your lenses.

Though we attempt to shoot the glasses as accurately as possible, due to variations of computer monitors, the colors on your computer screen may appear slightly different than the actual product. Each of our frames are cut from custom made japanese premium acetate sheets – the world’s finest acetate. Colours in acetate are achieved through mixing different layers and it is rare for any two sheets to look absolutely alike – the result is no two pairs can ever be completely identical. You may view the relevant sections of our website to learn more about the materials used and the craftsmanship process each archibald optics frame undergoes.

At Archibald, as we work directly with our craftsmen we have set up a system to help strategically repair/adjust damaged frames or lenses. This same service can be used to re-glaze your pair with new lenses as well. On the third Thursday of each month a shipment returns to Japan with all pairs that require adjustment, repairs or re-glazed lenses. This service will be made formally available on our website in the coming weeks, for now, you may simply contact us via email at info@archibaldlondon.com and let us know you would like to partake in this option. We would be happy to help.

Archibald glasses are designed to last. Each pair goes through over 200 manual processes and rigorous testing. If a manufacturing issue occurs with either your lenses or your frame, we will replace the defective pair free of charge upon verification of defect. Should scratches or accidental damage occur, our warranty ensures replacement of frames and lenses at a discounted rate, based on available inventory. We developed our Home Try-On program to allow you to try our glasses in the comfort of your own home. By submitting an order online, we will ship you a kit within 1 to 2 business days. Each home try-on order contains up to 3 pairs of your choice. We cover all costs involved with delivery and will supply you with the appropriate return label and packaging in order to return the kit. The home try-on program is designed to give you up to 5 days to interact with the frames, try them on for comfort, and get a better idea for which style or color suits you the best. We currently only offer home try-on kits to addresses within the United Kingdom and United States.

We do our best to provide you with the exact colour and style of your choice. However, it is important to note that our home try-on system is designed primarily to serve as an indication for shape and fit. In many cases, the exact colour you wish to try may take a few days to come back into circulation and therefore will be listed as unavailable online. In the rare circumstance that you have ordered a kit and one of the pairs that was due to go out to you becomes unavailable or damaged, we will inform you via e-mail and our styling team will replace your preferred color with its closest match.

We understand that finding the right pair of frames can be tough, so we are more than happy to help. Simply email us at info@archibaldlondon.com with a picture of yourselves and our stylists can make some recommendations as to which frames will suit your face. You may also try our virtual try-on feature which is available for at least one color of each of our frames and is useful for determining how a given frame would work for you. Additionally, you can post your pictures onto instagram, facebook or twitter and tag @archibaldlondon and we’ll make sure to provide some feedback. Just ensure your accounts are not set to private!

We ensure quality checks on all kits before the frames are sent out to you. Please note, since our home try-on glasses function from a separate stock, they may occasionally show signs of wear and tear through usage by multiple people. However, we refurbish, clean and tighten our home try-on pairs often enough to ensure you receive glasses in good condition.

Unfortunately, the status of home try-on stock is dependent on other customers and the promptness with which they return their kits. We usually suggest waiting and trying again in a few days to see if your desired color becomes available, or going for an alternate colour.

Our home try-on system is designed to be leased to you for a 5-day period. This allows us to ensure all other customers are able to have an equal chance at experiencing the difference. We ask that you let us know in advance if you foresee delays with returning your kit, and we will generally be very accommodating with these issues. We do not like to have to charge you for late or unreturned kits.

Can’t I just keep the frame I like from the home try-on kit? It is probably not in your best interest as our home try-on frames have been tried on by multiple people. We would much rather you experience what we’re all about and receive a brand new Archibald frame from Japan, the way it is designed to be received.

Currently, we do not offer these for sale. Give us a compelling argument or tell us how much you liked the box and we might consider it...or just send one over.

The Virtual Try-On gives you the ability to ‘virtually’ try on one of our pairs to gain insight on how the style works for you. We use a system that replicates an augmented reality version of our glasses and allows you to move your head slowly to see how it fits from different angles. The technology for the Virtual Try On is by no means exact and is improving day by day.

There are two ways you can use the Virtual Try-On feature.

1. On each product details page, under the option of “Try Before You Buy”, you will find an option for “VirtualTry-On”. When you click this option, the virtual try on system will load and replace the main picture of the page. The pair that loads will be the one you are currently shopping for. Please note, currently we have at least one colour of each style available for Virtual Try-On. In the event thecolour you are looking for is not available, it will load one of the available colours.

2. The Virtual Try-On Page You may also access the Virtual Try-On from the Virtual Try-On Page. The advantage of this means you can selectbetween designs on the page itself to quickly compare the different frames. Note: The Virtual Try-On Page is currently under construction.

Our system is designed so that you have 24 hours to cancel an order completely free of charge. Just let us know if any changes are required. After the 24 hour period is over, you may not edit your order, nor will you be able to cancel the order from the dashboard. Do give us a call in this situation and we will do our best to help you out. You may also email and we will attempt to act as quickly as possible. The 24 hour period starts from when the checkout process is completed. It does not reset every time there is a change made. We process orders quickly, but we’ll do our best to accommodate any changes to your order. The best way to change or cancel an order is to give us a call or to email us at info@archibaldlondon.com

If you are interested in buying a few pairs each using different prescriptions (e.g. One for you and one for your sister; one pair for reading and one for driving), our checkout process allows you to append a different prescription to each pair.

We attempt to fulfill any order we can. We do indeed fulfill vari-focal (progressive lens) orders only. As progressive lenses are less dependent on an exact line to mark the change in prescription than bi-focals, we are able to complete these orders with far lower risk. The option is now available during checkout for an extra charge of £126, and usually requires an extra 3 - 4 business days for additional testing. The lenses we use for these orders are progressive versions of the same UltraThin 1.67 Hi-Index lenses we offer for our single-vision product, and come treated with all the same coatings. However, we request that our free Home Try-On Kit is taken full advantage of so as to ensure best fit when a progressive prescription is required. We have to date, a 100% success rate in completing progressive prescriptions.

If you are having trouble reading your prescription, you can either give us a call or send us an e-mail with an image of your prescription, and a customer service representative will be happy to help. If you have already made your order and need help with your prescription, please inform us as soon as possible.

In the event that you don't have your PD (pupillary distance) number(s), you may request it from whoever provided you with your prescription. Unfortunately, dispensing opticians often refuse this information to prevent people purchasing glasses elsewhere. If you face this problem, please contact us directly and we will be happy to help you obtain this very simple measurement.

Our current checkout system requires that during the checkout procedure, the lens wizard needs to be run in order to progress through the checkout. If you experience any difficulties or confusion, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help.

Each Archibald frame comes standard with a customised 1.67 Hi-Index lens. These customisations are made at our lens lab in Japan. Our sunglasses use the very highest quality Japanese 1.5 index Polarised lenses. Our prescription sunglasses are made by tinting our UltraThin 1.67 Hi-Index lenses. All of our lenses come standard with all the necessary coatings you would need, including anti-scratch, anti-reflective and water proofing coatings.

If you are shopping in a different country to where you would like your items delivered, you can always change this at the top left of the web page, where it says ‘Shipping To’. Please check the country setting before adding items to your shopping bag, as they will not be saved if you change your shipping destination. Please note that all prices, taxes, delivery times and delivery charges will be adjusted according to the country you would like your items shipped to.

Archibald has officially opened up in several countries which you are able to select in the shipping country drop-down option. Certain countries may require a few days extra for logistical reasons. For the Home Try-On kits, please refer to the HOME TRY-ON, VIRTUAL TRY-ON AND CHOOSING FRAMES section of the FAQ. For all other countries that we have not yet officially launched, we can only fulfill a purchase order by special request. Feel free to call or email us to discuss arrangements.

We have a 24-hour cancellation window in which you can amend or cancel an order. After this period, your order is confirmed and submitted to Japan. The processing time for your order depends on certain factors; the type of order, strength of the prescription, when you place it and where you wish to have it shipped to. Here is what you can expect: Please keep in mind that on rare occasions, shipments may be delayed due to carrier delays, issues at customs or public holidays in Japan. If this is the case, we do our best to inform you and ensure the fastest and smoothest delivery possible.

- Single-vision standard prescription: 8-10 business days

- Single-vision high and Progressive prescription: 10-12 business days

- Prescription Sunglasses: 10-12 business days

- Polarised or Tinted Sunglasses: 8-10 business days

- Home Try-On kit: 2-3 business days

Currently, you may only track your order once it has arrived domestically to the United Kingdom. Once your pair has arrived to our United Kingdom forwarding centre, we will send you a shipping confirmation and tracking number via email. You may also see the entire status of your order on your dashboard. We will soon be adding a feature to your dashboard where you will be able to follow the entire manufacturing and shipping process of your glasses in Japan, all the way through to when it arrives in your hands.

We offer free returns for all our frames. Unfortunately, given the process by which orders and global shipments take place, we have had to develop a penalty scheme for returns with customised lenses. For any customisations which have not been cancelled within the 24-hour cancellation period, a charge may be applied that will reflect the extent to which customisation occurred. For any lens upgrades, there will be an extra charge of £35.00. The charges are summarised below:

• Single-vision standard prescription (1.67): £70.00

• Single-vision high prescription (1.67): £100.00

• Progressive prescription (1.67): £135.00

• Polarised or Tinted lenses (1.5): £70.00

• Prescription Sunglasses (1.67): £100.00

For everything else, we offer full refunds as long as the item is returned in the same condition it was received, within 28 days of delivery. Simply e-mail our customer support team at info@archibaldlondon.com to request a return label, and we will be happy to help process your return.

As most eyewear orders are customised per your requirements, a return due to reasons other than a faulty product, you will be charged to accommodate the costs involved in creating your lenses. In the rare circumstance that there is a mistake made on our part, we offer full refunds. For all eyewear orders, customisations are performed 24-hours after an order is made. This means that you have a 24-hour cancellation window in which to cancel your order with no charge whatsoever.

For everything else, we offer a full refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition it was received, within 28 days of delivery. Simply e-mail our customer support team at info@archibaldlondon.com with your name and order number, and we will send you a return shipping label with instructions on how to process your return.

The best thing to do in this situation is to give us a call. Alternatively, you may email us and we will try and sort this out for you as soon as possible. Time is of the essence, and we can only guarantee we do our best to cancel the order before the customisation process begins. If the customisation process has already begun, then you may face a cancellation fee. Please see the returns section for more on this policy.

If you have a return you wish to be processed, we can e-mail you a postage slip and you will be required to drop off the package at your nearest Royal Mail post office window. Please make sure to keep hold of the receipt given by the post office staff. Simply e-mail us to request for a return slip. Alternatively, you may make your own arrangements. Please note, it is your responsibility to make sure the package arrives undamaged. Refunds will be processed only after the package is received.

Currently, we do not deal directly with insurance providers, but if you are planning to apply for reimbursement, you may print a receipt via your dashboard or see below for how to obtain an itemized receipt.
