Handcrafted eyewear from Sabae, Japan was the founding product on Archibald. In late 2019, one of the central coordinators who directed the 16 different craftsmen across various workshops that assembled each of our frames was in a car accident and needed spinal surgery (and a lengthy recovery), and in 2021, we lost our lead craftsman, Nishino, to Covid-19. While all of this was happening, we had a major restock order in progress, which, because of these setbacks, we have not yet received.
Since November of last year, our production coordinator has returned, working to re-establish both his business and deliver the outstanding pieces to Archibald, reviving our eyewear offering. Part of our production order included new colourways for some of our most sought-after styles, and these were prepared earlier with the aim of debuting them alongside the remaining items on delivery. Together, we have decided to make these available first.
Over 200 manual processes performed by 16 different craftsmen, each expert in a distinct stage — these were the products that first opened our eyes to what real quality and craft mean.
As with all our eyewear, each pair is available with a range of prescription or sunglasses lens options in various colours — for display purposes we have listed each with clear lenses as eyewear and with one of the three lens colours in our sunglasses offering. Ships to Australia.
