Handcrafted in Scotland
Our cashmere is woven in Scotland, at a family-owned mill. Our Scottish craftsmen stake great pride in maintaining every part of the manufacturing process; from dyeing and blending, to cutting and folding. The mill relies on trusted suppliers from Mongolia, China and Afghanistan to provide them with the finest cashmere available for purchase, steering clear of the low-grade mass produced stuff that's now so readily available on the market. It's then brought to Scotland where it's gently rinsed in natural springs and taken through several centuries-old making processes to create beautiful items made to last.
##We create the softest cashmere products by acquiring the rare, finest grade (Grade A) fibres from the underbellies of Mongolian goats.
Due to the dramatic fluctuation in temperatures on the vast plains of Mongolia, Hircus goats have developed a beautiful, downy under-fleece. Cashmere acquired from Hircus goats is fine in texture, strong, light and soft. It provides excellent insulation and simply lasts longer without shedding or piling, due to the longer strands of hair Hircus goats develop on the hardy Mongolian plains. ##So what does it all lead to? Mass production using low-grade cashmere has only strengthened the case for the true, Grade A, highly crafted woven product.
Many of the most celebrated international luxury- fashion houses rely on Scottish rather than Italian mills for their fabrics. Some of the relationships go back decades; others are new and founded on innovation as much as on heritage. But all are forged on the understanding that Scottish cloth is unique. It is said that this is down to “something in the water”, as the soft-water springs that go into the most highly prized whiskies also help textiles hold their texture in a completed garment. Made to last… it will hold together and not shed or pile easily… and will keep you warm through chilly moments for years to come.
