Handcrafted in the Czech Republic
When it comes to the finest crystal in the world, the best is crafted in today’s Czech Republic. Known as Bohemian crystal due to its origins in the kingdom of old, our workshop is true to traditional designs and methods of making, incorporating modern accents into classical pieces. The workshop was founded in 1849, the heyday of Bohemian crystal blowing and a key period of crucial breakthroughs in glassmaking. Though the workshop has seen its share of hard times, it survived both world wars and the spread of the Soviet totalitarian regime throughout the 20th century through remaining committed to traditional production methods. Despite the challenges of a turbulent century, the workshop maintains an admirable commitment to the art of Bohemian crystal making, hand-cutting and painting each spectacular piece.
Creating spectacular Bohemian crystal pieces is equal parts science and art.
Traditional glass blowing wood moulds are carefully selected based on whether they exhibit tight annual rings. Pure silica glass is quarried from mines that gave birth to the original rise of Bohemian crystal, augmented to ensure a high degree of transparency and refraction.
It’s the unparalleled skill of our Bohemian crystal glassmakers that accounts for the exceptional quality of each piece.
Our workshop is renowned for exceptionally sharp cutting, the precision of which is immediately noticeable to the discerning eye. High enamel techniques and gilding is another area of specialty for our artisans. When it comes to creating some of the finest crystal in the world, the secret lies in the instinctive knowledge of practised hands.
