##Handcrafted in Italy Located in Corridonia, Italy is a small family owned and operated atelier that has been making exceptional footwear with a focus on quality and construction since 1905. Excellence in shoemaking has been an obsession and never-ending quest that has spanned three generations of this family. As skills are passed from generation to generation there is an insistence to remain in-touch with developments in technology to ensure that both worlds, old and new are always respected in order to achieve the highest quality, most comfortable and longest lasting purpose built shoes. Currently led by the granddaughter of the founder, it was clear from our first interaction that this team of masters fully understood our raison d'etre at Archibald and relished an opportunity to work with us and allow more people to experience the difference their expertise and craft can make in terms of end-product.

Craftsmanship

##Each individual upper is made from a single piece of Horween Shell Cordovan equine leather. The tanning process requires a minimum of 6 months and is handled using Isadore Horween’s original recipe - specific to this leather - from 1905, which the family safeguards as part of the extensive tanning process.

Every shell (one of only two pieces found beneath the hide on a horse’s rump) is individually hot-stuffed, hand-shaved, hand-dyed, and hand-glazed by a Horween craftsman. Then, each shell is finished by hand-rolling glass rods over its surface, resulting in a rich, glossy sheen. Horween Shell Cordovan is robust and stands apart from cow leather, known for its durability and the patina it develops over time.

Navy Shell Cordovan brings a deep, saturated blue to the forever sneaker — darker and more nuanced than typical navy, with the characteristic depth and lustre that only shell cordovan provides. The colour will evolve and deepen with wear, developing the prized patina that makes shell cordovan so revered. Goodyear-constructed in Corridonia, Italy. A spare set of Margom soles is included.
