Handcrafted eyewear from Sabae, Japan was the inaugural product we brought to Archibald. In late 2019, one of the key coordinators who managed the 16 different craftsmen across multiple workshops that fashioned each of our frames was involved in a car accident and required spinal surgery (and considerable recovery time), and in 2021, we unfortunately lost our lead craftsman, Nishino, to Covid-19. During this period, we had a significant restock order in motion, which, as a result of these events, we are still awaiting delivery of.
Since November of last year, our production coordinator has resumed operations, striving to restore both his business and deliver the outstanding pieces due to Archibald, bringing our eyewear back to life. Part of our production order included new colourways for some of our best-selling styles, and these were readied some time ago with the intention of releasing them with the remaining items upon arrival. Together, we have chosen to launch these first.
Over 200 manual processes executed by 16 different craftsmen, each dedicated to a particular step — these were the products that first demonstrated to us what authentic quality and artisanship look like.
As with all our eyewear, each pair comes with a selection of prescription or sunglasses lens options in a range of colours — for display we have listed each with clear lenses as eyewear and with one of the three lens colours we offer in the sunglasses range. Ships to Canada.
