Trebisonda 1/15

Trebisonda is Lanecardate's carded blend yarn, count 1/15: 70% super-fine Australian merino wool and 30% dehaired Chinese cashmere. "Woollen-spun" (carded) means the fibres are lofted rather than combed flat, so the finished yarn traps air — soft, warm and light, with a gentle halo instead of a hard worsted sheen. The merino gives resilience, elasticity and an even next-to-skin feel; the cashmere adds the softness and warmth that only a fine down fibre can. Dehairing strips the coarse guard hairs from the cashmere so only the fine down is spun.

A sweatshirt is one of the most-worn things in a wardrobe, so the yarn has to earn its place against the skin. Pure cashmere is glorious but delicate; super-fine merino is hard-wearing and temperature-regulating but, on its own, not as soft. The 70/30 blend takes the best of both — merino’s structure and durability, cashmere’s hand — and the woollen-spun construction keeps the knit light and warm rather than heavy. It is the quiet workhorse behind the Derice.
