Buttery Soft Suede

Archibald's Buttery Soft Suede is Conceria Opera's in-barrel-dyed Italian suede, named for its exceptionally supple, soft feel. Rather than mask the leather with a sprayed or pigmented finish, Opera develops its colour deep within the fibre, so the suede keeps an open, even nap and a soft, yielding hand that acclimatises to wear almost immediately. The same approach gives remarkable colour consistency from skin to skin and a palette of exceptional depth.

Although suede will never match full-grain leather for abrasion resistance, Opera's premium suede is far more robust than the flimsy fashion suedes used in lower-priced footwear. It offers distinct articles for different uses — from the Light Cachemire to the water-repellent Go-Rain — across the full 266-colour Legacy range. Selected, hand-cut and left unlined in Archibald's footwear, it delivers a softness, comfort and natural character that is difficult to find elsewhere.

Many tanneries make suede as a side category; Opera built its identity around it. Every rough skin is selected and pre-graded before tanning begins, so each lot arrives uniform in character — the discipline behind the consistency the tannery is known for, and the reason we chose it.
