What it is
Piacenza understands cashmere as a raw material and transforms it into exceptional fabric — arguably one of the world's great interpreters of the fibre rather than simply a spinner. Where many mills chase micron count alone, Piacenza balances all the main characteristics — fibre diameter, staple length and uniformity — sourcing chiefly from the Alashan region of Inner Mongolia, prized for fine, long-staple fibre that is soft without sacrificing strength.
Why we chose it
Piacenza cashmere can feel less aggressively "buttery" than ultra-soft cashmeres when brand new, but it ages better over years of wear because the mill prioritises nobility — durability, elasticity, recovery and shape retention — over instant softness. Its finishing is equally rare: traditional natural teasels raise and refine the surface gently, avoiding the harshness of aggressive mechanical finishing.
Finished in Biella, where soft water is long cited as critical to handling luxury fibres, this is cashmere chosen to last and improve rather than to impress for a single season.
