Handcrafted in England

A name often speaks volumes about a craft, earned through demonstrated excellence in a field. For a company to be permitted the use of ‘British’ in its name, it must be at the absolute forefront of its field. British Silverware has earned both renown and respect for playing an imperative part in preserving historical tooling, bringing together the most distinguished names in the field over half a century ago under their uniquely prestigious umbrella. Formed by the amalgamation of Mappin & Webb, Elkington & Co. and Walker and Hall in 1963, they play an important role in preserving British excellence in Silver-Smithery.

Craftsmanship

The earliest human civilisations recognised that silver was the best material for utensils, but may not have realised why.

It’s an ideal metal to use in the kitchen and at the dinner table on account of its unique antiseptic properties. It has a much lower toxicity level than other heavy metals, and makes for a highly durable, lasting kitchen utensil.

Material

Creating beautiful Silverware requires the exceptional skill of a talented Silversmith

British Silverware benefits from having one of a handful of Chasing & Saw Piercing craftsmen in house, meaning they can offer a true artisanal product. With skilled craftsmen working alongside apprentices, British Silverware ensures these unique skills are passed on to the next generation of silversmiths.
