Handcrafted Eyewear from Sabae, Japan was the very first product we offered on Archibald. In late 2019, one of the main coordinators who managed the 16 different craftsmen across many workshops that made each of our frames was involved in a car accident and required spinal surgery (and prolonged recovery), and in 2021, we unfortunately lost our lead craftsman, Nishino to Covid-19. Whilst this was taking place, we had a large restock order in play, which, due to these issues, we are yet to receive delivery of.
Since November of last year, our production coordinator has been back, trying to recover both his business and deliver the outstanding pieces due to Archibald, resuming our eyewear business. Part of our production order included new colourways for some of our most popular styles, and these were prepared a little while ago with our intention to launch them with the remaining items when they were delivered. Together, we have decided to release these first.
Over 200 manual processes completed by 16 different craftsmen, each specialising in a particular process - these were the products that first exposed us to what true quality and craft look like.
As with all our eyewear, each pair is available with a series of prescription or sunglasses lens options in a range of colours - for the sake of display we have listed each with clear lenses to reflect as eyewear and with one of the three lens colours we offer in the sunglasses offering.
