A matter of presence.

Two substantial acetate frames. One opens the face with a near-perfect circle. The other lifts it with a decisive angle.

One material · Two expressions

A frame does not sit quietly on a face. It changes the reading of it.

Amelia and Elenore begin with the same proposition: let the acetate have weight, colour and a clear silhouette.

The choice is not subtle versus bold. Both are bold. It is whether that boldness feels open and circular, or lifted and directional.

01 · Amelia

An open circle, drawn with conviction.

The Amelia is oversized and unmistakably round. In Tortoise, amber and brown move through the acetate; in lighter translucent colours, the same silhouette becomes more luminous.

The line is strong, but the circle keeps the expression open. It is the frame for someone who wants eyewear to become part of their face—not disappear from it.

02 · Elenore

The line rises. The mood follows.

Elenore is chunky, high-angled and deliberately show-stopping. The thick bridge and upswept silhouette give the frame a sharper, more directional presence.

The current frame is described as wide-fitting and lighter than it looks. Archibald’s Product Page recommends the shape particularly for oval or heart-shaped faces.

Material

Colour is not applied. It runs through the frame.

Takiron Rowland acetateTatsuno-City · Hyogo

Each frame begins as a single sheet of premium Japanese acetate. The colour and pattern run through the material itself, preserving consistency in feel and weight before polishing brings the surface to a sheen.

Takiron Rowland has made acetate sheet in Tatsuno-City, Hyogo since 1969. Its material is the upstream source behind these frames before it travels to the specialist workshops of Sabae for cutting, shaping and assembly.

Archibald works directly with Takiron Rowland, making the origin of the acetate as visible as the workshops that turn it into a finished frame.

Sixteen workshops. No single pair without all of them.

Sabae’s guild-like system divides the making between specialists. Cutting, shaping, tumbling, polishing, hinging and quality control form one managed sequence over roughly six weeks.

The final choice is personal

Which one still feels like you?

The choice is not between quiet and bold. It is between two different ways of being seen.

Return to the face, not the specification. Then follow the frame you can already imagine wearing.
