Product Material

Our mill in Scotland sources the finest merino wool fibres from trusted suppliers based in New Zealand.

Biodegradable, sustainable, renewable, and made to last. The fibres used in our wool products are extremely fine, and far more flexible than other varieties. This won’t be one of those scratchy, stuffy wool jumpers you get from your aunt for Christmas. Merino wool is soft to the touch and doesn’t shed or pile. Merino is an active fibre that reacts to changes in body temperature, helping you stay warm when its cold and cool when it’s warm, and is suitable for all climates.

Archibald London A $3,000 Men’s Scarf for $575? A New Kind of Bargain by S. Christian (03/05/2017), The Wall Street Journal.

Nowadays, it’s not hard to get your hands on a ‘genuine wool’ jumper on the high street. But there’s a reason for that enticingly low price tag.

Many celebrated high-end fashion houses rely on Scottish rather than Italian mills for their fabrics (at least that’s the case for the brands that haven’t moved production to parts of the world where labour is cheap and quality control is lax). For those that stuck around, relationships go back decades; some (like ours) are new and built on innovation as much as heritage. We can all agree on one thing: Scottish cloth is unique. It is said that the soft-water springs where the cloth is rinsed, and which are also used in famed Scottish whiskies, help fabrics hold their texture without shedding.
