In a deep, inky dark navy — one of the rare dyed expressions of this extraordinary fibre — the Long Vicuña Scarf is perhaps the clearest embodiment of everything Archibald strives to achieve. Vicuña, known as the gold of the Andes, is the rarest animal fibre in the world: four to five times finer than human hair. An adult vicuña produces only 1lb of fleece per year, making it extremely rare and closely monitored by Peruvian authorities. Woven in Biella, in Italy's Piedmont region, by master craftsmen who have spent nearly three centuries perfecting the art of fine textile. Extraordinarily light and notably soft, the midnight-blue tone brings a contemporary versatility that transitions effortlessly from day to evening.

*Measures 30 cm x 175 cm.

Handcrafted in Italy

In the valleys of the breathtaking Piedmont region lies what many consider to be Italy's textile mecca: Biella. There has been a long standing debate in the world of luxury about which country of the two titans of knitwear, Italy or Scotland, is truly the best. Truthfully, it depends on the product. The process of transforming fibres into fabric starts with a tradition dating back to the ancient Incas, according to which individual strands are sorted carefully by hand. These fibres then arrive at our mill where they are woven into impeccable pieces by craftsmen, who pride themselves on the care and attention they dedicate to everything they produce.
