Situated on the historical silk roads, Northern Italian cities have for centuries been at the heart of the textile trade. The cotton industries of medieval Italy drew on the knowledge flowing in from the Islamic world south east on the infamous trade route, and local artisans soon learned to weave the material using their own techniques. But it was only after the second World War that the world acquired a taste for ready made Italian tailoring and technique. Soon enough Italian artisans and fashion houses emerged in full force to clothe the global elite, drawing on a tradition of craftsmanship centuries in the making.

##Milled in Galliera Veneta, the fabric used for this shirt is an Egyptian cotton poplin in a 200s 2-ply weave. It's incredibly soft to the touch and ideal for year round use. It’s the highest yarn count in our range, and an indulgence to wear. With a hidden pleat on the front buttons, it’s a clean and timeless piece to add to your wardrobe. The fibres in Egyptian cotton are longer than other varieties of cotton, meaning there are fewer splices when the cotton is woven into yarn. Ultimately, the threads are softer, smoother and extremely resistant to strain.
