An Italian zip built almost entirely in-house — smooth, precise and finished to the standard the top of the market specifies.
What it is
A zip is the one moving part of a bag, opened and closed thousands of times and the easiest place for quality to fail. Raccagni's are engineered to outlast the piece. Made in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, near Brescia, they come from a house that makes almost the entire zip itself — the zipper, the tape (through its in-house tape specialist Almatex), the dyeing and the metal plating are all controlled under one roof, on machinery and moulds the company builds internally.
Why we chose it
That vertical control is why a Raccagni zip runs the way it does — smooth, precise and colour-matched, to a standard the top of the fashion and leather-goods market specifies (clients include Tom Ford). Its Simmetrica system, developed for leather goods, uses a double-sliding mechanism suited to bags and cases.
We use a Raccagni zip on the Francis Backpack v3, where the fastening is handled every day and has to feel as considered as the leather around it.
