Named after Abebe Bikila, the famed Ethiopian runner who won the 1960 Olympic Marathon barefoot, the Abebe in Scratched Black is cut from a single sheet of Japanese acetate by Takiron Rowland that carries a subtly textured, almost weathered finish — darker and more understated than our Jet Black, with a tactile quality that sets it apart. The squared lenses and distinctive bridge deliver the strong, architectural lines the Abebe is known for, suiting those with rounder faces. Each pair is shaped in Sabae, Japan over six weeks and more than 200 manual processes.
