In this small town sits a family run operation that has, for just short of three centuries, been producing the finest knitwear in Italy. There has been a long standing debate in the world of luxury about which country of the two titans of knitwear, Italy or Scotland, is truly the best. Truthfully, it depends on the product. Where the Scottish may triumph in heavy knits, the Italian masters trump them with blends and lightweight stitches. ##Woven from some of the finest Giza 86 and Giza 70 long and extra-long staple Egyptian cotton. In 1820, Mohammed Ali Pasha, the founder of modern Egypt, planted for the first time in Egypt, Sea Island cotton and Brazilian seeds. There after finding the finest cotton in the world was born in Egypt, from the marriage of the world's best seeds with the unparalleled climate of this country. For this piece we have used a special mix of long fibers (above 33 mm (long) and above 36 mm (extra-long)) are also extremely fine and exhibit a high degree of uniformity in the section. Despite this, Giza 86 and Giza 70 cotton is surprisingly strong and has a high resistance to stress - ideal for fine gauge pieces and soft and silky weaves.
