Ghirlandina v1 Low Top Leather Sneakers - White Calfskin, White Sole - Size 36
Ideated on a blistering summer night in Modena, it was only fitting to name our first sneaker after the beautiful Torre della Ghirlandina. The v1 was where it all began — our first foray into sneakers, built on Cappi's in-house last and shape in Mirandola. Hand-stitched from an incredibly soft yet durable Italian calfskin with a calfskin inner lining and high-grade Italian rubber soles, this minimalist pair stays true to our design philosophy — simple, classic, and timeless.
This style has been discontinued in favour of the [SF-01](/collection/product/the-sf-01-in-suede) and the [Ghirlandina v4](/collection/product/ghirlandina-v4-low-top-leather-sneakers).
Handcrafted in Italy
In the 12th century, craftsmen in the northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna established guilds known as the compagnie delle arti, one of which specialised in the creation of fine shoes. Within days of our arrival in Italy, we met artisans working for brands such as Berluti (Ferrara), Santoni, Peron & Peron (Bologna), Testoni (Modena) and Enzo Bonafe. After a thorough search, we finally settled on a small family-owned workshop in Modena, where a dedicated father and son team make what are, in our opinion, the finest shoes we have come across. Our sneakers are the ultimate combination of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship; only the finest calfskin, traditionally reserved for the best men's dress shoes, is used for the upper, which is then finger stitched to springy rubber soles by craftsmen with over two centuries of skill to their name.
##A uniquely soft, yet durable, naturally tanned Italian calfskin forms the upper which is hand-stitched to the rubber sole.
The calfskin promises a unique blend of comfort, protection and longevity from the moment you wear them. The softer leather acclimates to your foot almost immediately and provides an unparalleled level of comfort and quality.
##200 years of shoe-making excellence preparing your feet for whatever may come.
We've spent over a year working with our craftsmen to perfect the Ghirlandina. We see it as an iterative process, and we'll continue updating the design and ensuring every material sourced is just right . Fortunately for us, we have 200 years of experience guiding us every step of the way. The classic Italian Sneaker with no compromises made - the way it was always meant to be.
