  • Known as 'The gold of the Andes'
  • Composition: 80% Cashmere, 20% Vicuña.
  • 180 cm x 30 cm + Fringes (total 192-196cm)
  • Hand teaseled
  • Dry clean only
  • Products are shot with white light shone, so products can look slightly different in real life
  • Do not tumble dry or hang to dry

Two of the world's most coveted fibres, woven into one. Known as the gold of the Andes, vicuña is the rarest animal fibre on earth - four to five times finer than a human hair, with just 1lb produced by a single adult animal each year. Blended with Grade A Mongolian cashmere, this scarf balances the legendary warmth and softness of both fibres in a composition that is as rare as it is refined.

Woven by master craftsmen in Biella, in Italy's Piedmont region - home to some of the world's most celebrated textile mills - the two-tone construction gives the scarf a quiet visual depth, with each fibre's natural tone lending its own character to the weave. The result is extraordinarily light, notably soft, and provides unrivalled warmth as the naturally interlocking fibres trap insulating air close to the skin.

Handcrafted in Italy

In the valleys of the breathtaking Piedmont region lies what many consider to be Italy's textile mecca: Biella. In this small town sits a family run operation that has, for just short of three centuries, been producing the finest knitwear in Italy. There has been a long standing debate in the world of luxury about which country of the two titans of knitwear, Italy or Scotland, is truly the best. Truthfully, it depends on the product. Where the Scottish may triumph in heavy knits, the Italian masters trump them with blends and lightweight stitches. Whatever the case, with over 10 generations of the highest class of artisans at the helm, who boast an order book of clients that are some of the most sought after luxury houses in the world... you can't really go wrong.

Vicuña is the rarest fibre in the world, with availability closely monitored by Peruvian authorities and the select few brands that offer it for sale.

The process of transforming fibres into fabric starts with a tradition dating back to the ancient Incas, according to which individual strands are sorted carefully by hand. These fibres then arrive at our mill where they are woven into impeccable pieces by craftsmen, who pride themselves on the care and attention they dedicate to everything they produce. Archibald London A $3,000 Men’s Scarf for $575? A New Kind of Bargain by S. Christian (03/05/2017), The Wall Street Journal.

While our customers appreciate us increasing the availability of this luxury material, our competitors are not so keen on the challenge to their excessive prices. We do like to cause a stir...
