Rōnin

In feudal Japan, a Ronin was a samurai without a lord or master — individuals who would stray from full alignment, but who could, after years of drifting, join a clan and become its fiercest warriors. We see the term positively. Sometimes you need to get a sense of who you are dealing with before committing long-term.
