Vicuña

Vicuña is the rarest and most precious of the noble animal fibres, combed from protected, free-ranging vicuña under strict CITES regulation rather than from domesticated herds. Cariaggi works it as part of its elite fine-fibre portfolio, spinning and finishing in a way that respects the fibre's delicate structure so it keeps its exceptional softness, warmth and second-skin hand. Its naturally rich camel-gold colour is often left undyed to preserve purity.

Strict wildlife protection and CITES quotas limit global vicuña production to a few thousand kilograms a year, placing it at the very top of the luxury textile market. We use Cariaggi's pure vicuña because few mills can spin so fine and rare a fibre without compromising it — the yarn is extraordinarily light yet warm, with a softness cashmere and wool cannot match.
