Handcrafted eyewear from Sabae, Japan was the original product that launched Archibald. In late 2019, one of the principal coordinators who supervised the 16 different craftsmen across numerous workshops that constructed each of our frames was involved in a car accident and required spinal surgery (and an extended period of recovery), and in 2021, we regrettably lost our lead craftsman, Nishino, to Covid-19. Throughout this time, we had a substantial restock order in progress, which, due to these difficulties, remains undelivered.
Since November of last year, our production coordinator has been back at work, endeavouring to rebuild both his business and fulfil the outstanding pieces owed to Archibald, reigniting our eyewear programme. Part of our production order included new colourways for some of our most admired styles, and these were finalised some time ago with the plan to introduce them together with the remaining items when they arrived. Together, we have resolved to release these first.
Over 200 manual processes undertaken by 16 different craftsmen, each versed in a specific discipline — these were the products that first taught us what exceptional quality and craft truly entail.
As with all our eyewear, each pair is offered with prescription or sunglasses lens options in a selection of colours — for display we have listed each with clear lenses as eyewear and with one of the three lens colours available in the sunglasses offering. Ships to Singapore.
