Why we chose them
Margom S.p.A. is an Italian maker of rubber soles and heels based in Civitanova Marche, in the region's historic footwear district. It is a family business three generations deep: the story begins in 1952, when Mario Aimone opened a workshop called Marchigiana Gomma — the first in the area to make semi-finished rubber components. In 1974 his sons Giuseppe and Francesco built on that work to found Margom, then a roughly thirty-strong maker of rubber soles and heels.
Today Margom employs around sixty people and turns over some €12 million a year. Its focus remains the Italian market, and the Marche district in particular, but it has built commercial relationships in more than fifteen countries, with export now around a fifth of revenue. Through that growth it has stayed deliberately family-run — Giuseppe Aimone leads the business with his daughters Maria Carla, Barbara and Arianna closely involved, and much of production still overseen by the founding generation. Margom calls this running a large business with a small-business mentality.
That combination — long-serving technical staff paired with up-to-date technology — lets a mid-sized maker hold its own among the best in Italian footwear. Quality and service come first in every production choice, and soles are frequently developed as bespoke prototypes with customers, supported by an in-house technical team, a chemist and dedicated quality control. The result is a sole that has become a quiet mark of quality on premium Italian footwear: springy, light underfoot, durable and precisely made.
