Handcrafted eyewear from Sabae, Japan was the very first product we introduced on Archibald. In late 2019, one of the principal coordinators who oversaw the 16 different artisans across numerous workshops that created each of our frames was in a car accident and needed spinal surgery (and an extended recovery), and in 2021, we regrettably lost our lead craftsman, Nishino, to Covid-19. While this was unfolding, we had a large restock order underway, which, due to these circumstances, we have yet to receive.
Since November of last year, our production coordinator has been back, endeavoring to rebuild both his business and fulfill the outstanding pieces owed to Archibald, restarting our eyewear program. Part of our production order included new colorways for some of our most popular styles, and these were completed some time ago with the plan to debut them alongside the remaining items upon delivery. Together, we have opted to release these first.
Over 200 manual processes carried out by 16 different craftsmen, each specializing in a specific process — these were the products that first revealed to us what genuine quality and craftsmanship look like.
As with all our eyewear, each pair is offered with a variety of prescription or sunglasses lens options in a range of colors — for display purposes we have listed each with clear lenses as eyewear and with one of the three lens colors available in the sunglasses offering. Ships to the United States. Free returns.
