Why we chose them
DA.MA. & CO. is an Italian sole-maker based in Montegranaro, in the province of Fermo at the heart of the Marche footwear district — the same cluster of specialists Archibald draws on for much of its Italian production. Founded in 1976, it has spent decades in a single niche: researching and producing soles from advanced, lightweight materials, until that expertise became a brand in its own right — WEARLIGHT®.
The company's specialism is EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate). From an industrial-scale headquarters it develops proprietary EVA compounds — often combined with rubber inserts for grip and wear — that are light, flexible and resistant in equal measure. The pairing of serious material science with long artisan experience is unusual: the firm turns out around ten thousand pairs of soles a day yet holds dozens of design patents and five exclusive technical patents, and its EVA is free of carcinogens and fully recyclable.
The result is a sole that does something deceptively difficult — it disappears. A Wearlight sole carries a shoe with real cushioning and a dependable non-slip tread while adding almost no weight, which is exactly why it has become a quiet standard among makers building genuinely lightweight footwear.
