Lactae Hevea Soles

Lactae Hevea is a natural latex made from the milk of Hevea brasiliensis, the rubber tree, with a distinctive alveolar (microcellular) structure that gives a spongy, springy, "alive underfoot" feel. The virgin hevea milk is sustainably tapped from rubber trees in Asia without harming the forests.

The manufacturing process is labor-intensive and slower than that of typical mass-manufactured rubber. It involves careful pouring, curing, and finishing of natural latex harvested from hevea trees. Each sole takes roughly 10 to 12 days to complete: latex is poured by hand into molds, then cured through alternating warm- and cold-water baths and drying rooms, which create the microscopic air pockets responsible for the material's cushioning and rebound. Lactae Hevea's craftsmanship is recognized by honors such as the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, a French award for excellence in traditional manufacturing.

The sole can develop a thin white bloom from heat or light exposure, removable with water, and is vulnerable to oily substances; slight color and surface variation batch-to-batch is expected and treated as a mark of authenticity rather than a defect.
