Calfskin

Calfskin is the benchmark upper leather: fine-grained, smooth and strong, taken from young cattle so the surface is tighter and more uniform than mature hide. Ours is Conceria La Veneta's Adelaide ½ article, a full-grain calf from one of the specialist calf tanneries in the Arzignano district. Full-grain means the natural surface is left intact rather than sanded and re-coated — so you get the real grain, the natural marks, and leather that ages honestly.

A sneaker upper asks a lot of a leather: it has to take a crease at the toe thousands of times without cracking, hold a clean line, and still look refined. La Veneta's calf has the tight grain and even, controlled finish that does exactly this — precise enough for a minimal, modern shoe, natural enough that it improves rather than degrades with wear. It is the quiet workhorse of the collection.
